To the Highlanders the Targewas both a life preserving tool and a status symbol with ornate decorations. An Act of parliament of1456 orderedmen unable to shoot a bow, toarm themselves witha Targe and an axe. I am inspired and driven to preserve, promote and pay tribute to the Highland Art and cultural wealth.

The Targes are approx. 500mm in diameter by 18mm, made ofPine cross plied for strength. They are covered by cowhide decorated with embossed lettering and Celtic patterns. The embossing is tooled by hand and dressed with domed studs. The inside is covered with deer pelt and 2 leather grip straps. The Targes are of the artists own designs strongly influenced by the 17th century targemakers. They are fully handcrafted and custom made.
